Here is a little preview of Rising Sword VX (RSVX), a RPG game that uses Tankentai Battle System. It is a script that arranges all the characters to the right of the screen instead of the default first person view. Using TBS is hard since most of the instructions are in Japanese. However, the codes are not in Japanese so I can possibly tweak it a bit. If all goes well, RSVX will be released in August with one chapter that may be one to two hours long.

Here are a few screenshots of RSVX:

TBS – Melon shoots her arrow at a bat. At this point, I need to readjust the monster sizes and placement.

Outside Life Kingdom – More details are needed.

Inn – A typical inn. It is incomplete.

Menu Screen – I do not have character portraits yet so I am using sprites for now.

I’m currently working on Rising Sword XP verion 1.2. For those of you that don’t know, Rising Sword XP (RSXP) is a game I made based on my work in progress manga, Rising Sword. The game is made using a program called RPG Maker XP.

RSXP is something I do entirely for fun. It is not something serious so development is slow.

Some of you might remember this game from September 2008. Since then, I’ve been working on this on and off. I’ve taken some suggestions from a few people and have made a lot of changes and improvement.

Here they are:

-All characters can now equip two accessories.
-Added Guardian Weapon upgrade system. Guardian Weapons can be upgraded by collecting elemental shards. Currently works for Lin Lin and Mei only. Normal weapons cannot be upgraded.
-Some attacks and spells have new animations.
-Improved character sprites.
-Added new spells.
-Added new items.
-Added new monsters.
-Added new characters (Lin Lin, Mei).
-Added more cutscenes.
-Added save points (Save Crystals) throughout the game. You may no longer save anywhere.
-Longer gameplay. About four hours more. It should take nearly five hours to finish this demo now.
-Reduced difficulty and balanced game.
-Added red treasure chests which may contain a variety of random items.

Here are some screenshots of v1.1. I’ll try to get this done sometime around May. Thanks to everyone that helped.

Bunny’s Room – You can gamble for random items here.

Fire Kingdom – Lin Lin and Mei’s kingdom.

Fire Cave – A huge cave measuring 120 x 80.

Fire Blast – Lin Lin’s Fire Blast. Deals massive damage to a single bug and/or plant enemy.

Dark Kingdom – Serenity’s home. A decent sized town with many cutscenes.

Dark Kingdom Orphanage – A little cutscene with Melon healing an injured caretaker.

There’s a lot of mistakes, but whatever. I got the practice I wanted.

I will do something more dynamic next time. I promise.

One of my future projects is to make a Rising Sword fighting game using M.U.G.E.N. After discovering Arcana Heart, I was inspired to make an all-girls fighting game of my own.

Yesterday, I got curious about how fighting sprites were made. I decided to give it a try and this is the result. No base was used for this. This was drawn from scratch and it took nearly 8 hours.

She will fight Heart Aino someday!

This is Melon, one of the main characters of Rising Sword. She is one of two Elite Knights of the Life Kingdom. The other Elite Knight is Zeal.

Rising Sword XP

Rising Sword XP is a RPG made using a program called RPG Maker XP. I started working on this game in January but stopped shortly after. I got back into it in July and spent most of that month working on it. Because of that, I am very rusty in drawing now.

The reason I made this game is because I want to organize my ideas together. I want to see my characters come to life and interact with each other in another way besides drawing. Also, I love RPGs and I always wanted to make my own.

This game is far from finished but I will have a demo up later this week. It will feature the beginning events of my story and include the main characters, Serenity, Melon, Lily, and Zeal.

What is Rising Sword?

Rising Sword is a story that I have been working on since I started drawing more than 3 years ago. It is a fantasy manga set in a magical medieval world. The story is still incomplete. So far I only have the beginning.

This blog will contain everything on Rising Sword as it progresses. There will be character sketches, concepts, stories, bios, and more.

Here’s a synopsis.

In the world of Rising Sword, there are seven elemental kingdoms (light, dark, life, fire, ice, wind, earth).

Serenity Lavendia, the sixteen year old Princess of the Dark Kingdom has been living a peaceful life with her father. One night, her kingdom is attacked by a mysterious knight. The knight quickly obliterates everything in his path and heads for the throne room. Before the knight is able to reach Serenity, her father uses a teleportation magic on her. Serenity is teleported out of the castle.

Serenity finds herself in Emera forest, the Life Kingdom’s largest forest. There, she is ambushed by trolls because of her smell and attractiveness. Right before the trolls attack her, Serenity faints. Being able to sense her life force fading, Melon and Zeal, the Elite knights of the Life Kingdom, quickly appears and saves Serenity.

Serenity is brought to the Life Kingdom. There she meets Lily, Princess of the Life Kingdom. From this day on, Serenity’s life will never be the same…….
